Providing Positive Youth Development
The YMCA of Abilene is dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable child care. As the nation's largest provider of child care programs, YMCA's provide family-centered, values-based programs to nurture children's healthy development. Well-trained staff provide safe, affordable, high-quality care so you can have peace of mind while you work. Like all Y programs, child care is open to all, with financial aid available including state assistance. Staff members are partners with parents and other caregivers, working together to help children grow up healthy, happy and strong.
Quality Care Matters
YMCA Child Care programs help kids grow physically, mentally and spiritually, while emphasizing and modeling character development values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. At the Y our learning environment is prepared by trained teachers who understand how young children learn and consciously facilitate individual learning experiences in the following areas for our preschool and school age programs:

- .Foreign Language (basic Spanish during activities)
- .Math (assisting with basic concepts)
- .Science (experimental fun learning activities)
- .Gross and Fine Motor Skills (movement and placement)
- .Language/Literacy (verbal/non-verbal communication/reading, writing, words)
- .On Site Swimming
- .Recognition of self (self esteem, likes, family, culture, talents, etc.)
- .Nutrition (health and wellness, healthy foods and activities)
- .Cognitive (process of thought)
- .Exploration (discovery of children's interest)
