Group X- Zumba/Hip Hop/Step

zumba fitnessAre you ready to party yourself into shape? That's exactly what the Zumba® program is all about. It's an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party that's moving millions of people toward joy and health.

When participants see a Zumba class in action, they can't wait to give it a try. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they're getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! There's no other fitness class like a Zumba® Fitness-Party. It's easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted community among returning students.

Hip Hop

This high-energy class will introduce you to hip hop dancing by breaking down movements and combining them into a routine that will exercise both the body and the mind. Popular dance techniques like popping and locking will be introduced and performed to a variety of hip hop music, both new and old. Students are encouraged to wear comfortable exercise clothing and sneakers.

Step

Step Aerobics is distinguished from other forms of aerobic exercise by its use of an elevated platform (the step). The height can be tailored to individual needs by inserting risers under the step.

Step aerobics helps burn calories. The amount of calories burned depends on the speed of movements, step height, and length of exercise time. Step aerobics provides endurance training, which helps maintain the health of our cardiovascular system. The strength training component of step aerobics helps improve gait and balance.

Step aerobics provides flexibility training that enhances joint movements. Step aerobics has a positive impact on mental health as well. Since the workout is fun and enjoyable, it can help release stress.

Aquatics

State Street Classes

Senior Class- Designed for the young at heart, you don't have to be a senior. Increase strength and flexibility while building Cardio health. Great for beginners and members with arthritis, back problems, knee problems or asthma.

MS Aquatics- Sponsored by The North Central Texas Chapter for the National Sclerosis.

Fit Moms- A low impact water workout to strengthen your body. a great prenatal and postpartum Cardio workout. This class is open to everyone.

Red Bud Classes

Deep Water Class- A low/no impact workout good for building muscle and cardio endurance. This class is especially helpful for people with tender joints.

Shallow Water Class- A fast paced class with more impact and is a great class for non swimmers and for beginners. This is an awesome Cardio and toning class.

PUMP H2O- Our most difficult water aerobics class! This is a fast paced high intensity class.

ActivTrax

actitraxActivTrax was founded in 2000 and was originally designed to help commercial health clubs guide members in their exercise routines. Our technology helps management and staff stay in touch with the overwhelmingly large group of exercises that aren't engaged in one-on-one training.

More specifically, ActivTrax is designed to help staff orient new and current exercisers, provide ongoing guidance and insight into each member's level of adherence and engagement.

ActivTrax goal is to provide tools to help people live a healthier lifestyle.

Personal Training

Interested in toning, losing weight or building strength & endurance, a personal training session helps you succeed.

Pay per session or choose one of our packages:
Individual sessions:
$35 per one hour session
$20 per thirty minute session

5 sessions:
$160 for 5 one hour sessions
$90 for 5 thirty minute sessions

10 sessions:
$300 for 10 one hour sessions
$170 for 10 thirty minute sessions

We offer free equipment orientation for members adult and youth ages 13-17.
*Please note...
Youth ages 13-17 must complete the orientation before they can access the fitness equipment.

 

Fit Start

At the YMCA of Abilene we are committed to helping our members reach their goals. A fit start is a set up consultations with one of the YMCA weight room attendants or health consultant. We go through an orientation of machines and weight room usage of equipment to help an individual better be familiarized with the facility equipment.
